Weatherization & Energy Efficiency Training

The SouthWest Building Science Training Center (SWBSTC) is a leading resource for professionals in the Southwest, offering specialized training in weatherization, energy efficiency, and building science. Since its inception in 2004, the center has provided hands-on learning for the Arizona Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and other energy efficiency initiatives. The facility includes a variety of training environments, such as a walk-in attic space, cantilevered flooring sections, and multiple types of roofing to mimic real-world conditions. Notably, the center houses a 450-foot pressure lab designed to simulate issues like air infiltration and duct leakage. With state-of-the-art equipment funded by grants, including those from the Department of Energy and local utilities, SWBSTC trains individuals to master the complexities of energy efficiency and building science, ensuring they are equipped to address the region’s unique construction challenges.
